Honing craft. Freeing Impulse.

A month long course designed for professional actors who want to take their process and craft to the next level.

On the course we will work on:

- Text work
- Character development
- Emotional preparation

in order to stretch your range, deepen your imagination, and encourage impulsive, free and specific work.

We’ll be working to cultivate spontaneity, listening and responsiveness, so that your instrument remains flexible, alive, and present to the shifts in your partner. We’ll focus on truthful response through strong, specific imagination, so that you are “living truthful under imaginary circumstances”.

You will be given a 2 or 3 person scene to work on for the duration.

Below is a rough timetable of the course:
Please note this is provisional, and will be adapted to the needs of the group as the course grows and evokes.

Session 1 Introduction: Deep Listening & Script Analysis

Session 2 Discovering strong needs & shifts in the scene

Session 3 Discovering strong needs & shifts in the scene

Session 4 Beats: Playing with specificity

Session 5 Given Circumstances: Deepening the Imagination

Session 6 Given Circumstances: Deepening the Imagination

If you’d like to apply as a pair, or a three, please highlight in your email who you would like to be paired with. If not, we will allocate you a scene partner. It is likely we will all work on the same source material, but if this doesn’t happen, you may be invited to chose your own.
