CREATIVE THREADS
Retreat with us to the depths of West Wales to explore creative approaches to acting and directing and how methods can weave to complement and enrich our process as theatre makers.
The Meisner technique and NLP will be facilitated by actor and acting coach Robert Bowman.
Stanislavski’s active analysis will be guided by directing coach Elen Bowman and director/artist Than Hussein Clark.
Lesley Ewan will guide improvised site responsive work to text and performance.
Other methods explored will be Le Coq, Alexander technique, Linklater Voice work, Drawing and Meditation hosted by our Living Pictures facilitator team Polly Waldron, Florrie Dobson, Cassidy McCartan and Adrian Greensmith.Venue: Coed Dylan (retreat space in Carmarthenshire, Wales).
Dates: Sunday August 18th (Arrival time 4pm onwards) - 25th of August
Times: 8am on Monday the 19th until Sunday afternoon of the 25th 1pm.

FACILITATORS
Robbie Bowman
Robbie is co-director of Living Pictures. He is an Actor, most recently The Normal Heart (National Theatre), The Tempest (Wiltshire Creative), an Acting lecturer currently at RWCMD, WAVDA and recently at Central School of Speech and Drama . Robbie hosts the Living Pictures Acting Studios in London. He is a recipient of a Creative Wales Award 2016. Full biog here.
Elen Bowman
Elen is co-director of Living Pictures. She is an acting & directing lecturer, dramaturg and directing coach and has directed and commissioned new writing. Her coaching work began with Katie Mitchell and James MacDonald funded by NESTA in 2000. She also coached Ian Rickson during his tenure at the Royal Court. Her inspiration is the teachings of Maria Knebel, Stanislavski’s pupil. For Living Pictures director training courses Elen created parnerships with Goethe Glasgow, National Theatre of Scotland, Sherman Cymru and Theatr Genedlaethol as well as coaching for Derby Playhouse and Regional Directors Scheme. She currently lectures in acting and directing at WAVDA, Univeristy of Wales. Elen is the recipient of a Creative Wales Award 2017.
